In the Studio with Motion City Soundtrack
Motion City Soundtrack’s new album “My Dinosaur Life” is headed for release very soon. January 19th, 2010 to be exact, which means it’ll probably be the HAVE TO HAVE gift for groundhog’s day. The band is ramping up the machine, releasing behind-the-scenes videos, and apparently doing a surprise tour of emergency rooms around the country. They recorded an amazing album, and I can’t wait for everyone to get a chance to check it out. You can follow the band on the twitter box at @motioncitymusic. Currently, Justin is driving around the country in a van, stopping to play pop-up shows wherever and whenever the urge strikes. To get in on that, check out the website mydinosaurlife.com, and follow justin on the tweeter vcr at @jcpmcs. Now, here’s a studio transmission highlighting the reason this record is going to rule so hard: my involvement as a producer. HA! In all seriousness, though, if you really want to annoy the band, ask them their least-favorite question: “What’s it like to work with mark hoppus?”

I have a pretty awesome story that I remember when you mentioned the band’s least favorite question. Last month MCS played during homecoming weekend at Slippery Rock University (it’s in PA about an hour north of Pittsburgh). It was an awesome show, and my friends and I decided to wait around after everyone left to (hopefully) meet the band. We waited maybe a half hour and then some cruel, cruel lady told us that the band wouldn’t be coming out….she lied! About 5 minutes later Justin came out and met with the 5-7 of us that waited, which led to him meeting with 20 or so of us when everyone around realized who it was. He went back, the crowd dispersed, and my friends and I waited again. Matt Taylor came out and kept us company for a while, which was awesome because I stood right in front of him during the show. He was wearing a shirt with Mark Hoppus’ Octopus logo on it, and I was wearing my Blink shirt, so that created a conversation (I saw the Blink show at Pittsburgh in August w/ FOB, Panic! and Chester French.) I almost asked him what it was to work with Mark, I’m glad I didn’t though! It was an awesome experience to say the least. They’re an awesome band, excellent music and very fan friendly.
