our good friends in something for rockets just got themselves a bigtime record deal, and to celebrate they put a few songs from their forthcoming album up on their myspace page. the full lp comes out in october. i was lucky enough to produce the record, and both james ingram and chris holmes engineered it. all the tracks are great, and “waiting” is amazing. check it out here.
the new idiot pilot record is being released on september 25th. it is called “wolves.” and it rocks. drum! magazine just reviewed the album and here is what they had to say:
paul rosenberg (yes, the paul rosenberg from the eminem albums) also manages the +44’s. paul is an industry insider. he’s kind of a big deal. people know him. he has many leather-bound books, and his apartment smells of rich mahogany. anyway, he just started his own blog. if you want to know all about his shoe collection, his take on thumbrings, or the history of hot dog restaurants, you are in luck. all of this information has now been gathered in one convenient location! awesome. paul is so rad, he was the one leading the charge to go to the simpsons 7-11 the other week. you can find his blog right here.
today is august 14th. right now we are supposed to be on a flight to start a european tour which, as was announced last week, has been cancelled. canceling the tour was not an easy decision, not something we wanted to do, and not something that we take lightly. we didn’t cancel our first european tour last winter even when travis was playing every single show with a broken arm, and we didn’t cancel the next european tour after travis was ordered home by his doctors. touring and playing shows is the foundation of +44. sorry to anyone who had tickets to the shows this month. we were absolutely stoked to be headed over for a third tour, but this time it just wasn’t possible.
now we are starting to write the next record. we’ve got a bunch of ideas; a studio full of instruments, microphones, and effects; and a soundboard from the 1970’s. we’re excited to start putting together a new album.
