== Beginnings ==
The Dick Brown Experience is a San Antonio based alternative rock group. Started in 2008 by guitarist Ryan Brown and bass player Michael Wayne (Born Michael Wayne Reid Jr.), the two met while working as pharmacy technicians. Ryan had been playing guitar for many years, while Michael, up until this point, only had musical experience in the form of rap beats and lyrics. The original plan was to make a collaboration CD in which rap would meet singer songwriter, indie rock It was further on down the road Michael realized he enjoyed playing bass guitar, after purchasing one at a pawn shop for $40. He later upgraded to a much better quality, entry level bass.
== Sean D ==
In December 2008, the band recruited their friend (and Michael's brother-in-law) Sean D (Born Sean Duncan McLeod) as drummer. Sean had mostly worked in auto-mechanics and had musical experience in the past playing coronet in middle school. Sean was selected for his taste in a wide variety of music. The band divided the cost and purchased a used drum set at a local music store. Sean had no experience on drums but picked up the music very quickly. At this point, the band's act was enjoyed regularly at a sunday night open mic.
== Mario & Jojo ==
In early 2009 the band met Jojo Rios who introduced them to River City All-Star guitar player Mario Salazar. Mario had been playing guitar for years and is largely influenced by Jimi Hendrix. Mario's playing style is a mix of psychadelic and raggae. This added a different guitar sound that the band thought sounded great. Shortly after the band recruited Jojo for a misc. percussion slot when they noticed he had rhythm to match the songs. Jojo was then trained by Ryan in instruments such as djembe drum, shaker, and tambourine.
