Amazing things can happen when old friends reunite. Such was the case when guitar player Gabriel Miller and bass player Charlie Sperry met up again after several years of lost contact. It didn't take long for them to discover their mutual interest in music. They spent hours talking about their favorite bands and their failed attempts with other bands. On one day of unscheduled jamming together-- they found something new. Still nameless, they realized they could draw a strong crowd. A drummer friend of Gabe's had already rehearsed with him previously, the exceptional Nick Hart. After a few more rehearsals with Nick, it was time to get a name. A few immature and crass punk names were tossed around until one stood out from the rest. Counter Launch had everything they wanted to describe about themselves -- original, mysterious and universal -- ready to aim in any direction. Counter Launch blasted off with its first show at Boomer's, a small theme park in El Cajon San Diego. Drawing a sizeable crowd, the newly formed band was not concerned with appearance but rather giving their audience sounds, words and images that they would remember. The fans became hooked and a Counter Launch show became a great weekend pastime. Success grew as Counter Launch began to play in other respectable venues such as San Diego’s Brick by Brick as well as the Del Mar County Fair Grounds where they performed on the Coors light stage as a summer attraction. Born of hard work, it is no surprise that Counter Launch own Charlie and Gabe have jammed so successfully together. They bring a new fun and personal rock experience that fans get at every one of their shows. It's important to them that their fans are as much a part of their band as they are and everything they do is for the well-being of their rock friends. Both born of hard work and perserverence, it is no surprise that the two Counter Launch founders (Charlie and Gabe) have blended so successfully together. The Counter Launch momentum has only just begun to unfold. Now that they have captured the interest of one independent and one major record label, the possibilities are growing. Counter Launch believes that every fan is a member of their band and strongly holds to bringing a new fun and personal rock experience that their fans get at every one of their shows. It is important to them that their fans are as much a part of their band as they are and everything they do is for the well-being of their much appreciated band-family.
Counter Launch, stands for launching something new and positive against anything that may be trying to hold you back from your current or lifelong dreams. “For us we are making a Counter Launch on anything or anyone who will hold us back from what we love to do in life” (Charlie Sperry). Counter Launch is in no way a completed project or close to accomplishing its goal.
